Some verbs which stems end in [ t ] alter same in [ d ] before a vowel : etmek ( ediyorum ) ; gitmek ( gidiyoruz ).

Asla ( ahss-lah ) never. Kalmak ( cahl-mahk ) to stay.
Almak ( ahl-mahk ) to take. Oturmak ( oh-toor-mahk) to sit
Vermek ( ver-make ) to give. To sit down.

As you can see, [ olmak ] ( to be ) also is used to form verbs; there are as well some other verbs used for this purpose, but not in the length of the verb [ etmek ].
kabul etmek = to accept; kabul olmak = to be accepted.
Mecbur etmek = to force, to compel; mecbur olmak = to be compelled
rahatsız etmek = to disturb; rahatsız olmak = to be disturbed.
Borçlu = debtor; borçlu olmak = to owe.
Nezle = cold ( illness ) ;nezle olmak = to catch a cold.
Pişman = repentance ; pişman olmak = to repent.
Ödünç almak=to borrow;ödünç vermek = to lend.
Nefes = breath , nefes almak = to breathe.
Cevap = answer, peply; cevap vermek = to answer, to reply.
Şarkı = song; şarkı söylemek = to sing.
Özür = excuse ; özür dilemek = to apologize; özür dilerim = I am sorry.
Haber = news; haber almak = to be informed.haber vermek = to inform.

İyi = good; iyice = pretty good ; vigorously.
Uzun = long; uzunca = pretty long, rather old.
Yaşlı = old,aged, yaşlıca = pertty old, rather old.
Yüksek = high; yüksekçe = rather high,pretty high.
This can also be expressed with the adverb [ odukça ] ( fairly ,pretty,sufficiently ) placed before the adjective: büyükçe = oldukça büyük ; güzelce = oldukça güzel ; uzunca = oldukça uzun.

günlerce = for days, since many days.
